Unlocated togher within the vicinity of the town of Daingean, in 1600 the Lord Deputy reported to the Privy Council that they were now in a position to victual the fort of Philipstown (OF018-006001-) and to build again the Togher or causey which is the passage to the same and was formerly thrown down by the rebels (Lucas 1985, 51). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).
