Road

A trackway extending E-W (L c. 1km) was recorded in the 1950s. It began in Corlona at the W end and crossed a raised bog in Effrinagh and Corlisheen townlands before terminating on higher ground in Ardlougher, where it continued as a modern laneway. A short section (L c. 5m) of a well-made plank trackway (Wth c. 1.2m) laid across the bog was excavated at a depth of 1m in Corlisheen and produced a C14 date of 3395 +/- 170bp. Its precise route is not known now, and none of the trackway appears to survive.
