Road

A peatland survey carried out in 2006 by Archaeological Development Services recorded a togher measuring in ‘width 3.6m, depth 0.6m’ (Whitaker 2006, 87). Described by Whitaker (2006, 87) as ‘this site was located to the south of TI-LTN23c and TI- LTN29a. It was visible in the drain face, 0.25m below the field surface. It was composed of densely laid roundwood and brushwood elements, up to four elements deep. The wood was well preserved but had been damaged by machinery where it was exposed in the drain face. The elements measured 0.02 to 0.1m in diameter. The peat was composed of poorly humified Sphagnum-rich peat with frequent Eriophorum inclusions’.
