What is recorded here

The site (L 241.01m; Wth 1.29m; D 0.6m) is orientated NE-SW and consists of longitudinally laid planks, flanked either side by pegs, woodchips are irregularly scattered around the site. Further features include transverse and, less frequently, longitudinal roundwoods and heavy brushwood. Two to three planks are occasionally noted lying parallel to or overlapping each other. The pegs are composed of brushwood, light roundwoods and split timbers. The planks and woodchips are of oak. Toolmarks are noted on some of the brushwood and roundwoods. The site has been dendrochronologically to AD 596-597 (Q9251). The site crosses through poorly to moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat with occasional ericaceous remains.
