Road

The site (L 446.29m; Wth 1.06m; D 0.2m) is orientated NE-SW and is composed of transverse and longitudinal planks and roundwoods. The structural composition of the site appears to vary along its length and is difficult to ascertain as a result of machine damage. Many pieces may have been at least partially displaced by milling. On the whole, however, the site appears to consist of longitudinal planks, often only one plank wide and deep, supported by sporadic transverse planks or roundwoods which may in turn rest upon longitudinal roundwood or plank runners to either side of the uppermost plank. Numerous pegs are also recorded as well as irregularly laid brushwood and woodchips and there is extensive evidence for woodworking with a metal tool.
