Discovered during excavation work associated with the replacement of St. Mary's Bridge in 1981 (Excavation Licence No. E0206). A quay or wooden revetment was uncovered which produced a dendrochronological date of c. 1200 AD. Excavation revealed activity from the thirteenth to the eighteenth centuries. A large number of artefacts were recovered the majority of which dated to the 13th, 14th and 17th centuries. (Campbell 1987, 53) Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 28 August 2012
