What is recorded here
Rispond Bay features a sea cliff composed primarily of Lewisian gneiss, some of the oldest rocks in the British Isles, dating back over 2.7 billion years. These highly metamorphosed rocks formed deep within the Earth's crust through intense heat and pressure, and were later exposed by erosion and tectonic activity, making the site notable for its ancient geological history.
