What is recorded here
Ringcurran Burial Gd holds two fenced rows just outside the NE wall of Charles Fort, with a Trinity well breathing mist a few steps to the SE. The south side crowds with markers while the north stays bare, as if the dead chose their own direction before being forgotten. A small irregular patch, thirty metres long and twenty-six wide, it keeps the fort’s shadow at arm’s length and the well’s water within reach.
One of two burial grounds just outside NE wall of Charles Fort (CO125-007---). Trinity well just outside to SE. Irregular area (30.1m N-S; 25.9m E-W) enclosed by wooden fence. Grave markers concentrated in S side.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
