Ring-ditch in Dunshaughlin

Ring-ditch

What is recorded here

A small ring-ditch consisting of a circular area (int. diam. 2.2m; ext. diam. 3.4m) was just 7m SSW of the large ring-ditch (ME044-065----), and it was completely excavated (18E0495) by M. Piera (excavations.ie 2019:735). The complete ditch (Wth 0.45m; D 0.22m) had steep sides and a rounded base. It had two fills, a yellow/orange clay at the bottom, and a grey silty clay above which might represent a re-cut. There were no internal features and no artefacts were recovered. (Piera 2020, 13) See the attached plan from Piera (2020, fig. 8) Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 10 December 2021
