Rift Cave is a limestone cave formed through the process of differential erosion along a geological fault line in the Carboniferous Limestone of Cheddar Gorge. The cave has no known archaeological remains, but lies within an area rich in prehistoric sites and is associated with local folklore surrounding the Cheddar Man and the Gorge's ancient past.
