Richardstown Castle

Richardstown Castle stands as a grassy rectangular scar at the top of a long Kildare pasture, holding only a metre and a half of stripped wall core from its former sixty-foot height. The missing stones likely travelled into neighbouring buildings, carrying the castle’s strength into other walls while the empty outline waited beneath the open sky. What remains is not a complete ruin but a measurement of loss, marking the exact point where a local family once watched the southern slopes and shaped the turbulent life of the county.
