Religious house

Between road and graveyard (14610) in Cullen village. Indicated as small structure (c. 5m x 10m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, c. 10m SW of RC church. Gwynn and Hadcock (1988, 379) note 'ruins near church (14754) said to have belonged to ancient nunnery'. Grove White (1905-25, vol. 3, 89) was informed that remains of 'Cullen Monastery' were taken down in 1884 and stones used to repair walls of graveyard (14610); little more than foundations existed at that stage.
