Reformer's Tree

Stood in the south west corner of the Parade Ground, this circular black and white floor mosaic of a tree commemorates the Reformers' Tree.

The Reformer's Tree mosaic commemorates the original tree under which political reformers, including members of the Chartism movement, are said to have gathered in the 19th century. It marks a site of local historical significance related to the push for democratic reform in Britain.
