Yellowbatter holds a man-made underground passage near a cord burial ground, linking the living to the dead through dark earth. D'alton noted it in 1844, suggesting people had long used the hole to visit ancestors or hide from storms. The passage still smells of wet stone and memory, waiting for boots heavy enough to press through its silence.
