Stone sculpture in Waterford City is a stone sculpture in Waterford City, County Waterford, Ireland. An archaeological excavation in the nave of the present St Patrick’s church identified a carved mermaid with a bifurcated tail on the underside of a paving stone. The stone measures 0.35 metres by 0.3 metres in length and width, with a thickness of 6 centimetres, and only the bottom edges are missing. The date suggested by the closest continental comparisons is circa 1600 to 1630.

Archaeological excavation (09E0223) in the nave of the present St Patrick’s church (WA009-005024-) identified a carved representation of a mermaid with a bifurcated tail on the underside of a paving stone (dims 0.35m x 0.3m; T 6cm). Only the bottom edges of the stone are missing, and the date suggested by the closest continental comparisons is c. 1600-1630 (Ó Drisceoil 2014 116-121).
