Saint Patrick's Catholic Church

Attached three-bay two-storey almshouse, built 1754, originally detached. Extensively renovated, c.1990, to accommodate use as charitable hostel. Pitched (shared) roof with replacement artificial slate, c.1990, concrete ridge tiles, rendered chimney stack, cross finial to apex, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods, c.1990, on rendered eaves. Unpainted replacement cement rendered walls, c.1990. Square-headed window openings with replacement concrete sills, c.1990. Replacement uPVC casement windows, c.1990. Set back from road in grounds shared with Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church.

This building, although extensively renovated leading to the loss of most of the original fabric, remains of significance for its original intended purpose as a church-sponsored almshouse. The building retains forms an important group with the associated church (22501489/WD-5632-21-507) to south-west, and contributes to the historic character of the locality.
