What is recorded here
Ornate cast-iron quadrant entrance gates to Velvetstown House, erected c. 1850, comprising vehicular gates flanked by pedestrian gates. Reeded piers to gates and to outer ends of flanking railings, with finials to tent-profile caps, railings having some wrought-iron details, and gates. S-curved cast-iron plinths to railings.
This ornate gateway uses an interesting combination of cast and wrought-iron. The cast-iron plinths are unusual, as is the reeding of the piers. It is a notable landmark on a busy road.
