Detached five-bay two-storey house with attic, built c. 1720, rear having full-height three-bay return to south-east end, lower three-storey central stairs return, and two-storey lean-to additiondation and two-storey addition. Recent porch addition to front entrance. Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered stacks to gables, front elevation having carved limestone cornice with cut limestone band below, and replacement galvanized rainwater goods. Tiled catslide roof to lean-to addition. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered plinth. Hipped slate roof to porch. Square-headed window openings with cut limestone sills, having moulded limestone sills and lintels to front elevation, replacement timber and uPVC windows throughout, with stained-glass window to stairs return. Central square-headed door opening with cut limestone surround obscured by porch. Farmyard to rear having nine-bay two-storey farm buildings to north with ellitptical vehicular entrances and throughway having brick and stone voussoirs, and roofless remains of two-storey range to east side. Set in a mature parkland landscape. Late nineteenth-century house to south.
This rare example of an early eighteenth-century house is still occupied by its original builders, the Croft family. It retains much of its fabric such as moulded limestone sills, lintels and door surround. The form and character of this house make it an important part of the architectural heritage of the area.
