Ecclesiastical residence in Unknown Townland

St Pappan’s rectory in County Dublin materialised in 1829 just twenty-six metres west of a hidden sixteenth-century predecessor. The new building stands while the old one waits beneath the soil, perhaps still holding the shape of forgotten prayers. That much of the church disappeared under feet rather than into history gives the place a quiet danger. It suggests memory itself can be buried, not lost.
