What is recorded here

No visible mark remains, but the hidden ford may have guided people across the Liffey before the bridge climbed above it. Water, silt and time can erase a crossing while memory keeps it alive.

Sherlock (1909-11, 293-305) describing a medieval bridge (KD011-011----) on the River Liffey comments 'The ancient ford was somewhat below the bridge'. The ford has not been located. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011
