Alice and Gwendoline Cave is a limestone chamber beneath Edenvale House where a bear bone marked by ancient knives may be the oldest human trace in Ireland. Scholars dug in 1902 and pulled out thousands of animal fragments, Viking rings, and amber beads mixed across ages. The cave keeps its own time, swallowing centuries into one dark mouth before returning them as mystery.

Situated towards the centre of a rath (CL033-051----) at the N edge of a plateau. A length of open passage (dims. 4.8m E-W; 2.1m N-S) turns N at its W end, where it is partly roofed (L c. 1m) before becoming blocked.
