What is recorded here

Gateway, extant 1840, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of rusticated granite ashlar piers on plinths having cut-granite shallow pyramidal capping supporting quatrefoil-detailed wrought iron double gates with rendered, ruled and lined outer piers having cut-granite shallow pyramidal capping supporting iron gates. Street fronted at entrance to grounds of Springfield House.
A gateway forming part of a self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 15502051) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in Hill Street at the entrance on to the grounds of the Springfield House estate.
