Settlement deserted is a settlement deserted (medieval) in Tomona, County Tipperary, Ireland. It is recorded beside Tomona castle on the north shore of Youghal Bay along the east side of Lough Derg, in an area of marsh and rock outcrop. No earthworks are visible at ground level around the castle.
Situated in an area of marsh and rock outcrop on the N shore of Youghal Bay along the E side of Lough Derg. In 1617 the 'castle, town and lands of Tomonia were granted to William O'Meara (Cal. pat. Rolls, Ire., Jas I, 303). There are no earthworks visible at ground level around Tomona castle (TN014-037). Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien. Date of upload: 22 September 2008
