Structure

A roundwood with a degraded chisel point on the field surface (L 2.64m min.; diam. 0.08m). The piece has been extensively damaged by machinery and desiccation. It is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. A split timber fragment (Wth 0.03m), is located 0.2m to the S but its association is unclear. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 2001. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
