What is recorded here

Indicated is a levelled rise on the eastern side of a hill in County Offaly, perhaps a ringfort or perhaps a designed tree-ring belonging to Toberdaly House. The earthwork has vanished completely, leaving only its shadow in old maps and the memory of shape. It may have been home, border, ornament or gift, but the land itself has forgotten which.

Sited on a rise on eastern side of hill, completely levelled. Siting would suggest a ringfort. Marked as an earthwork possible on first edition of the OS 6-inch map. Its close proximity to tree-rings associated with Toberdaly House may suggest that this feature was a landscape feature associated with Toberdaly House.
