One narrow stone tunnel appeared below the Timolin road in 1903, pointing toward the mill and holding human bones. Its tight chamber measured only sixty centimetres wide and ninety centimetres deep, yet it crossed the living landscape like a forgotten breath. The second tunnel vanished beside the church, and both were later filled, leaving behind a place where forgetting became an act of mercy.

Fitzgerald (JKAS 1903, 163-7) mentions two possible Man-made underground passages in the immediate vicinity of the monastery (KD036-025001-). One (KD036-025005-) was uncovered in 1903 below the road immediately to the N of the present cemetery. It was of dry stone construction, roofed with flags, (Wth. 0.6m, D. 0.9m) and extended N towards the mill. It was reported to have contained human bones. A second possible Man-made underground passage (KD036-025006-), apparently similar, was found close to the E end of the present church. Both are now filled in. Date of upload: 5 September 2016
