Templebodan parish church vanished into Cork soil during the seventeenth century, leaving nothing but a graveyard and a memory behind. Brady wrote about its ruins in 1863, yet even that trace had faded by the time surveyors marked the site on paper in 1936. The church did not break or burn; it stopped being visible. People kept burying their dead where the walls once stood, trusting the ground to remember what the eye had forgotten.
