What is recorded here

Lichen and rain have stolen most of the story, but a cup-and-ring and three smaller cups still mark the top of a fractured sandstone boulder on the lower slopes of Teeromoyle. The mountain pasture stands beside a stream and field boundary, facing south with the River Ferta valley spreading below. Whoever cut those marks worked on a small, exposed stone where weather would soon erase them; they may have marked a boundary, a meeting place, or simply made the mountain remember a hand.

The upper surface of this boulder, located c. 30m E of (KE070-071----), measures 1.38m x 1.21m. It features a cup-and-ring and three cupmarks. The motifs are poorly preserved and the surface of the rock is lichen covered (information: A. Purcell). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. A smooth and fractured sandstone rock (dims. 1.24m ENE-WSW; 1.44m NNW-SSE; max. H 0.54m at S) having a rectangular (dims. 0.64m NW-SE; 0.36m NE-SW) decorated surface with a SE-facing aspect. The motifs are very weathered yet traceable and consist of a cup-and-ring (overall diam. 17cm; ring Wth 2cm; D 3-4mm; cup diam. 6cm; D 6mm) located centrally upon stone surface. A partial cup-and-ring (overall dims. 19cm x 15cm; cup diam. 7cm; D 7mm) is c. 2cm to NW. It is enclosed by a ring S->W->NNW which is not defined by a typical groove and instead appears as a small step or rim. A cupmark (diam. 6cm; D 3mm) is located to NW of the cup-and-ring motifs.
