Sunville

Partially collapsed early 18th-century house assocaited with the Penn family. Rear and part of side wall survive. Rear (N) is 2-storey with gable-ended projections making plan of house U-shaped. Remains of weatherslating on surviving walls. Photograph of entrance front (S) (Anon. 1946) shows it as 5-bay, 1-storey over basemant: central rectangular door. Windows slim, 8-light sash with shallow reveals; tall round-headed window in central baseless pediment. Weatherslated front except for basemant. Steeply pitched gabled roof with chimneys on gables. A stone fireplace from here was removed to Ballymaloe House (CO089-004001-). Walled garden survives with brick-lined N wall.
