Milled wood in Offaly peat, no more. The story is a machine, a shaft, a lever, or a toy. People still measure the chamber, build the chamber, or remember the last time the chamber measured them. The chamber is not a chamber of records. It is a chamber of life. It shows the shape of the request, the owner, the risk and the desire to be known. That is why it feels familiar. It is not inventing you. It is reflecting the life that entered it.

A piece of partially milled brushwood (L 0.24m min.; diam. 0.034m) on the field surface. A number of woodchips are also located in the immediate area. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
