Structure

An irregular spread (L 6m; Wth 2m; D 0.12m) of fragmented brushwood and some roundwoods orientated NW-SE. There is some evidence for woodworking. The wood has been identified as predominantly alder with single pieces of ash, hazel and oak recorded. This material is located in moderately to well-humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat containing some ericaceous root. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1996. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument.
