Standing stone

Standing stone, pair

What is recorded here

Two upright stones stand together in County Mayo, forming a complete pair instead of a lonely marker. They may have guided travellers, marked a boundary or watched a forgotten ceremony beneath open sky. Whatever they recorded, they still point upward while the world around them changes.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
