Small Island

In Barnagrow Lough, c. 150m from the shoreline and c. 70m NE of a second smaller crannóg (CV023-001----). Hall (1910, 361-2) noted that the site had only become properly visible following the lowering of water-levels at the turn of this century. He recorded an almost perfectly circular crannóg (diam c. 20m) with a raised centre and protected by a large number of outwardly projecting stakes. Possible foundations of a small house, a broad hearth stone, four quernstones, none of which matched, were discovered on the summit.
