Site of Kilrathmurry Graveyard

Kilrathmurry Graveyard occupies a rectangular patch of gently undulating pasture in County Kildare, measured roughly thirty-five metres long and thirty metres wide on the 1838 map. It may have begun as a ringfort with two banks and a central ditch, but those earthworks have vanished beneath grass and time. The place likely became a graveyard later, suggesting people returned to the same ground across centuries rather than abandoning it. That continuity transforms an ordinary field into a vessel for forgotten lives, holding both fortress and funeral in one invisible layer.
