What is recorded here

Nine hundred metres southeast of the church site in Silloge, a man-made passage disappears beneath the soil. Nobody recorded its length, entrance or purpose, only that it exists and that people dug it. Perhaps it drained a wet field, hid a path from rain, or led to a room no longer standing. The earth keeps what the village stopped repeating.

The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Recorded (IFC Schools MSS 674, 198) as being located 900m SE of a church site (LH021-031001-). No further details. (CLAJ 1958, 102)
