Carn stands at the centre of Sheemore Hill, a conical limestone cairn rising 7.5m above the plateau. A concrete cross added in 1950 now marks its summit, yet no chamber or kerb has ever appeared beneath its stones. The shape suggests a hidden passage, but the earth has kept that secret intact for millennia. What was buried there, and who sealed it, remains unknown.

Located near the centre of the plateau of Sheemore Hill. A conical limestone cairn (diam. of base 27m; diam. of top 8-9m; H 7.5m) is surmounted by a concrete cross, which was erected in 1950. There is no evidence of a kerb or a chamber, but it is probably a passage tomb. A Neolithic cairn; dates to the earlier part of the Neolithic period in Ireland (c. 4000–2500 BCE). Its size and location suggest it was a significant ceremonial or funerary monument in the prehistoric landscape.
