Shanagarry Rising

Cave rising

What is recorded here

Shanagarry Rising occupies a narrow cave corridor where water climbs instead of falls, turning descent into ascent. The chamber may have breathed through rising groundwater, carrying sediment and life upward rather than dragging them down. That reversal suggests the cave is not a wound but a lung, expanding and contracting with the land beneath County Cork.
The Irish Caves Database records Shanagarry Rising at Shanagarry in County Cork. This point comes from its public cave register. A cave map point does not by itself grant access: check local conditions and ask the landowner where needed.

The cave register does not grant public access. Check conditions and ask the landowner before entering private land.
