Whitcastle Hill layers a prehistoric earthwork beneath a medieval farmstead, keeping both lives inside the same Scottish Borders soil. The hill may have served as a marker, a boundary, or a home before it became a working farm, yet no written account survives to confirm which. People may have climbed it to watch weather, claim land, or simply belong somewhere visible.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Whitcastle Hill as Earthwork (prehistoric), Farmstead (medieval) - (18th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
