Enclosure in Sallypark

Enclosure

What is recorded here

Sallypark in County Cork holds a circular enclosure about thirty metres across, joined by a levelled ringfort and several neighbouring enclosures. The fields have swallowed most of the ditches, yet the shapes still belong to human hands and remain worth seeing.
Cropmark of fosse of circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) visible in aerial photograph (CASAP, July 1989). Enclosure (13806) c. 120m to NNW; levelled ringfort and circular enclosures (12859,13654,13655,13657) in adjacent fields. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
