What is recorded here

Gateway, extant 1897, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of drag edged dragged-panelled drag edged tooled limestone ashlar piers on chamfered plinths having chamfered stringcourses below "Cavetto"-detailed pyramidal capping supporting cast-iron double gates. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Saint Helen's.
A gateway not only making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the Saint Helen's estate, but also surviving as an interesting relic of the estate following the replacement of the eponymous house (extant 1897; sold 1914; cf. 31308719).

This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
