What is recorded here
Indicated is a phantom stone on a southwest slope in County Cork, visible only on an 1842 map and absent from the land now. The landowner does not know it, the soil holds no trace, and the marker exists solely in ink drawn over forgotten ground. Perhaps it was buried, broken, or never more than a shadow misread by a surveyor. In that gap between record and reality, Indicated becomes a measure of how much truth disappears when no one remembers it.
Indicated but not named as standing stone only on 1842 OS 6-inch map. In tillage, on SW-facing slope. No visible surface trace. Not known by landowner.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
