Inishatirra

Island

What is recorded here

Inishatirra is a small island in Lough Eidin, County Roscommon, where a rectangular enclosure still marks the edge of a medieval moated site. Someone dug ditches and raised banks around a plot barely twenty metres wide, treating precious island ground as though it needed defending. The compact space suggests livestock, storage, or a household annexe for the larger farmstead beside it. Whatever the purpose, the builder believed even a corner of that little island was worth claiming and protecting.
Inishatirra is recorded as a island in County Roscommon. Its open map record supplies this location and any linked names or public references.
