What is recorded here
Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Rochfort Demesne is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Rochfort Demesne, County Westmeath, Ireland. The site sits on a steep hillock in undulating pasture, and the 1971 record noted good views in all directions, including toward Lough Ennell which is visible to the west. It was annotated as a fort on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as a large circular-shaped tree-planted earthwork defined by a scarp with approximate dimensions of 51.5 metres north-south and 50 metres east-west. Although the 1971 account described no surface remains visible, the outline of the levelled monument is visible on Digital Globe aerial photographs.
