What is recorded here

The site (Wth 0.92m; D 0.21m) is orientated NE-SW and consists of an arrangement of mixed brushwood in the drain face with a single piece of brushwood in the opposing drain face. A number of the heavier brushwood pieces are widely spaced at c. 0.2m intervals and are orientated NE-SW. Lighter brushwood is deposited perpendicular to these, tending to lie beneath the larger pieces, but is too irregular to constitute a discrete substructure. The heavier brushwood has been worked with a metal tool into chisel, wedge and pencil points. Wood species identified include alder, willow and oak. The site is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum. The site is located 2.8m NW of SMR OF015-142----. Compiled by: Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College Dublin).
