Road

The site (L 29.71m; Wth 2.6m) is orientated WNW-ESE. It forms a curved rather than a linear arrangement and consists of brushwood, laid 2-3 pieces deep, roundwoods, laid one piece deep, and a small number of pegs. The roundwoods are closely spaced and are transversely laid for the most part, although some are longitudinally laid. The brushwood (diam. 0.018-0.045m) is irregularly laid. Five roundwoods were half-split and have metal toolmarks. One piece of brushwood has metal-cut chisel points at each end and evidence for tearing. One of the roundwoods has a metal-cut wedge point. The site is situated in two different peat strata both composed of Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous remains but with humification ratings ranging from poorly to moderately humified.
