Weir

Situated in the middle of the tidal Fergus Estuary, N of the archipelago of islands. Described by O’Sullivan et al. (2010) as follows: ‘Boarland Rock 8 is situated c. 150m north of Boarland Rock 1. It consists of a curved lie 37m in length with a shorter line c. 7m long joining it near its south end. No funnel is visible. A gap of c. 2m exists about half way along the length. The wood from the weir was dated to Cal. AD 1297-1398 (614 +/-20 BP).
