Rathleenan stood on a Mayo ridge with a steep northern drop and wide views, occupying a circular space twenty-five metres across until reclamation erased it. The land hunger that took the fort also swallowed the boundaries around it, leaving a clean wound in the pasture where a distinct place once resisted the field. What was removed is no longer visible, but the shape of the loss remains written in the flatness of the ground.

In pasture, on a ridge, with a steep fall of ground to NW–N, and extensive views over the surrounding sharply undulating terrain. This possible rath is shown on the 1838 and the 1922 OS 6-inch maps as a circular, ringfort-sized enclosure (diam. c. 25m), named ‘Rathleenan’. It was destroyed during land reclamation; there is no visible trace at ground level. Field boundaries which abutted and lay adjacent to the rath have also been removed.
