Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated was a fortified home at the north end of a low ridge, marked as a fort on the 1837 map before ploughing erased most of its shape. A faint bank and ditch still curve from northwest through north to southeast, preserving the outline of the room where people once lived. The fairies kept the rest, waiting for someone clever enough to read the hidden line.
At the N end of a low ridge in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. The monument has been levelled. However, the outline of the enclosing elements, apparently a bank with an external fosse, may be traced extending in an arc from NW-N-SE. Compiled by: Patrick F.
