Fairy forts are a common kind of ringfort across Ireland. They are called fairy forts because people believed fairies lived there. The fort in Raheenagh is a circular earthwork about thirty metres across. It has a low bank and a shallow ditch outside. The bank is worn in places, and thick growth covers the inside. It stands in level pasture in County Limerick. The shape is still clear, even though the earth has softened with time.
In level pasture. Circular area (diam. c. 30m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.1m) with external fosse (D 0.55m; Wth 1.2m). Bank heavily eroded in places. Interior is completely covered by dense overgrowth.
