What is recorded here
Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Raheen, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the east end of an east-west ridge just north-west of another rath. A subcircular platform measures 26.2 metres east-west and 22.5 metres north-south, bounded by a scarp rising 0.5 to 1.6 metres above the ground. The west and south edges remain distinct, while the northeast and southeast blend into the surrounding land.
At the E end of an E-W ridge just NW of rath (RO022-018002-). Subcircular platform (dims. 26.2m E-W; 22.5m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m at W to 1.6m at S) which merges into the ground NE-SE. There is no visible fosse or entrance, but a bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H 0.6m) was recorded on the perimeter in 1982 (SMR file). It remained unplanted in a coniferous forest in the 1990s, and is now in pasture but it was partly damaged at W when the forest was harvested. Rath (RO022-017----) is just to the SW.
